Hauling Hay

I can't say that keeping a 2 year old entertained in the cab of a pick-up for 5 hours is an easy task. We did a lot of dancing, singing and practicing of our letters and numbers. Ryder discovered the volume button on the radio and the switch for the windshield wipers. I need new ear drums, and daddy needs new wiper blades.

It was a beautiful fall day, and while it was about 4.5 hours too long, we had a good time ... which is a good thing, since we have about 12 more loads to haul.

Ready For Some Football

This is a football house. We watch college games on Saturday, and the pros on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. We cheer on our favorite teams and we arm chair quarterback. Some of us even play catch during the game.

Do you think this is how Archie and Peyton Manning used to do it?

Feed Store Haircut

Ryder was bordering on being a long haired hippy dude it had been so long since he got his haircut. It is still chaos, so I was just avoiding the drama all together by simply not doing it. Trent was going to get his cut, so he took Ryder and thought that might help. It helped me tremendous, little man came home with a new do and I didn't have anything to do with it. Both Trent and Ryder got haircuts for $15 total.

9 lives

In case you were questioning coming back in the next life as a kitten at Papa's house ...

A cold front moved through, and the high was only in the mid 90's. Ryder INSISTED on putting on his hoodie, and he wore it all evening outside at the farm. I'm thinking we won't be visiting Gramma Jill in Minnesota in December. Jimmy the cat didn't seem to mind, and I'm sure Ryder appreciated the extra layer of protections between his skin and the cats claws.

It is a wonder they even stick around. Last week Jimmy jumped up on me (I was standing) and grabbed onto my shirt about the middle of my back. In his defense, I was holding a PB&J sandwich Ryder didn't finish.

Bison Beat K-State

I made the trip to Manhattan to take in the NDSU v Kansas State football game. Trent was supposed to go with me, but at the last minute Ryder came down with a fever and one of us had to stay home with him (that one being the one that didn't attend college at one of the teams playing).

Jill, Kiel, and Kami and Mike were all there, and we had such a good time. In total we were in Manhattan for less than 24 hours, but we stayed up until 4:30 am making good use of the little time we had together. And the Bison won, which made it even more perfect.

Getting our drink on before the game. There was a whole tailgating thing going on at the stadium, but it was 104 degrees ... and we aren't stupid.

Before the game, outside the stadium.

When I talked to Kami and told her I had 2 extra tickets, I was careful not to say that I had 2 extra seats. We did not have seats, we were ostracized to the grassy knoll where we had to stand on a steep incline (see below) for 4.5 hours. Next time, I hit up StubHub and spend the $140 a ticket on a place to park my rear.

Mike and Kami on the grassy knoll. Not sure if she is loving on him, or holding onto him to avoid sliding down the hill.

After the game tailgating. And luckily we thought ahead enough to have beverages on ice. It took over 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. I am convinced they did this on purpose to keep us out of the bars since we won.
